Year of release BSA A7 ... ??

I would like to know the year of release of my "french police" BSA A7, frame N° EA7.2678.

EA7-101 onwards is listed as 1956 but for 1957 BSA just says EA7- . So it seems the EA7 covers both 1956 and 1957.

How can I prove the origin (1956/1957) to the French administration ? Is there a document of the numbers by years of production ?

Hello Rene,
looking at the BSA dispatch books.
Frame EA7.2678 was fitted with engine CA7.3467, and dispatched to Marea, Paris, (the French importers) on 05/01/1956
It was in the colour of Black and was an A7 swinging arm model.

If French authorities do not think that Andy's information is enough, have a look at the BSAOC website where you will find the instructions to get a 'Dating Certificate'.  This document is recognised by the UK authorities so should be acceptable in France.

I can confirm, I picked up a B40 no UK paperwork as imported in from America.
the dating certificate was applied for from our registrar, returned, paperwork filled in for UK licence and registration.
within a couple of weeks the title was returned with alloted registration number.

nice simple process, hope the French authorities will accept the correct records.

I'm not sure I can use them, because in France it is very, very, difficult to change something on a "carte-grise".
So, i will keep mine, with "1975" date of registration ... !

One last question, I have one crankcase noted CA7.8651, (1961 ?) Can I know his history ?

The answer is normally no unless the engine was the one that was fitted to the frame you have when it came out of the factory - a dating certificate for the frame number would confirm whether this is the original engine. I know some BSA engine and frame numbers were matched but I'm not sure this applies to a 1961 model?
