ANY GOLD STAR EXPERTS HERE?
« on: 23 February, 2022, 16:10:24 »
Hi, I have a question regarding a 1950 ZB32. Looking at one currently (on ebay) that has a bayonet style fuel cap, i thought these were all twist and lock style? Can anyone help please?

I've had 3 Gold Stars, a 1955 DB34 Tourer, a 1958 DBD 34 Clubman and a 1951 ZB32 Clubman. All of them had filler caps with butterfly that expands an internal mechanism to fix the cap down.
Attached is a drawing from the 1949-53 parts list showing the type of filler cap. It's part no. is 66-8351

Is this the bike you are looking at?

It seems to pretty original apart from the tank which is from a B31 or B33 of the same period, although with the correct Gold Star finish and decals, and the carburettor which originally would have been a 276 or a TT depending on the spec. - touring or race.
