BSA Blue Star clutch
« on: 20 February, 2022, 10:45:33 »
My 1938 B22 was fitted with a Blue Star single spring clutch when I got it. This slipped constantly and on dismantling the plates appear to have been fitted in random order. Does anyone know the correct order for the plates? Any assistance would be very helpful.

This from Pitmans Book of BSA 1938 edition may give you some idea.

Gday Julian, I have a clutch on a W35 that looks just like this. Its a bit of a puzzle to me how to get it off the taper. Would the previous page to that diagram give some info on how to remove the clutch complete?

Cheers

I think that the spring nut has to be removed and an extractor screwed onto the spring nut threads. The clutch has to be partially dismantled to remove it but can be installed as a unit.
