Rear brake cable
« on: 06 January, 2022, 20:59:00 »
Hello all
Just wondering if anyone can help me with measurements for a rear brake cable for a 1958 A10 (over slung) please.
I have just bought what was described as a genuine Doherty from Feked which doesn’t seem to fit!
Any info appreciated.
Thanks

My A10 is a 1959 bitsa but hopefully the same.
Outer cable is 12.5 inches
Inner cable is 20.25 inches measured between the centre of the nipples. Front nipple is a ball; rear is a barrel.
There is an adjuster at the rear bracket that is open by about 0.5 inches but this does not effect the lengths given above.
Venhill.co.uk will sell you all the bits or will make up a cable to your specification - not sure what the price for a made up cable is but they seem quite reasonable

Sorry, just realised rear nipple is a stirrup not a barrel. Centre to centre measurements still the same

I believe the part number for your bike is 42-7042 and the outer housing length is13/3/4inches and the cable length is 22 1/4 inches.the fittings would be clevis and big ball. The other part number I have is 42-7034 with housing length of 13 3/4 inches and cable length of 22 1/4 incheswith big ball at both ends. Hope this helps you.

Thanks all for the replies
I’ll have a proper look over the weekend and may have to resort to making one up.

Had my front brake and clutch cables made by JJ Cables. Do a great job and use very good materials.
