Side covers
« on: 13 October, 2021, 16:38:53 »
I have just started rubbing down my side covers prior to paint and noticed that they are different - one has a recessed badge, the other doesn't.

Can someone advise me which is correct for a 65 Lightning please.

As far as I'm aware the 1965 Lightning should look like this.  I believe all the unit twins had the recessed winged BSA badge on the sidecovers until the 1968 model year when they became transfers according to model spec.

The Recessed badges were used up to the 1968 model year so anything built from September-ish 1968 should have the plain covers. Some like them, some don't like them and as far as I know both will fit so it's personal choice.

The side panel I bought for my 1965 Lightning had the recesses, luckily, but it's nice to have it confirmed.... Thanks.

I believe that the pin stripe should sit inside the curve Martin.

I'm no authority but all the ones I've seen, including mine now, have the pin stripes like that.
