B31 brake plate removal
« on: 06 September, 2021, 12:36:48 »
Afternoon all.
A quick couple of questions if I may. B31 front wheel, 7 inch, type 3.
It's the one where the brake plate is anchored by means of a round boss which locates on a female boss on the fork leg. I need to undo the brake plate retaining nut. Is it r or l hand threaded and how do I secure the brake plate to undo it?
Thanks all. 😁

It's a right hand thread.

I found it difficult to get a decent spanner on it while still in the forks. I removed the wheel, mounted it horizontally with the nearside spindle nut in a vice, then with a socket (11/16W) it was then easy to remove the spindle nut from the backplate. Giving it a tap with a hammer might jolt it free if corroded on.
