Does anyone have a name of someone they can recommend for a plunger gearbox overhaul.

I've just done my plunger box, it wasn't a bad job at all really. They're simple units. Be methodical and pay attention to the details and you should have no trouble doing it yourself. I was sent some helpful tech sheets on here which gave some good figures for bearing clearances etc.

Hi,

I'm collecting parts to start rebuilding a (dismantled) early M20 box. I've always been apprehensive of tackling gearboxes, but want to give it a go.

The info I've found useful preparation includes the technical section on the WD BSA site (and searching the forum), plus the BSA service sheets and the Haynes manual (post-war singles). Handy tips from the WD BSA site include using a sealed main bearing -even if removing the inner seal- to aid continence; and guidance on shimming the shafts, if necessary.

Mind you, I've not got my hands dirty with it yet... ::)
