Bantam Headstock Gusset

Does anyone know when the Headsock gusset was strengthened on 175 Bantams ? My B175 has welded side plates but a 1961 D7 frame I have has an inset single gusset. Henshaw's Bible doesn't talk about such things.

I think the double plates were introduced for D14, or maybe earlier at D10?

the later d10 onwards had the double gusset, make sure you have the correct later peanut tank with flat /flush mounting flanges because of the extra width of the frame,,,

Ah! That explains why I had to use spacers to fit my ‘peanut’ tank to a D7 frame.
