dont shoot me its a Triumph question
« on: 16 October, 2020, 17:35:45 »
just need a good pair of eyes to have a look at the attached pictures.
Im working on a Triumph Tiger cub, I have the frame as a 1960 but need to tie down the engine number as the clutch cable supplied is far too long, the carb has a  choke ferrule hole but not enough room to get a cable in between carb top and frame, there are 12 options on Amal web site for carbs, and 9 options for clutch cables amongst other options.
its a distributor model with engine number T20   5 or S ?     73972
cant make out if 5 or S and another letter or number.
there are cub's , super cubs, J, S, SH, SL, SM, ST or T as well as WD and French Army, as could be a 5 or S and another letter options SH,SL, SM, ST .
any one had experience with differences?

Hi Julian
yes thanks, been through that list but if an S or SL its 1961 the other S's are the following year but engine numbers after this one. so going by that either an S or SL but they use 376 monoblocks this has a 375 mono.
presumably the S and SL are the same except the SL has lights. if the 376 is much bigger than the 375 there would be less room for it.
