AMC Singles may be worth a look.
A nice 350 went for 2500 in Stoke recently.
I think they are considerable bigger than B40 ???

Thanks Julian
I will try to find a way to exert a pull to the plate.
Without removing the g/box cover

Thanks Dean
Not sure if the procedure is the same for points on the side engine, which I have.
I may have misled you you by referring to the distributor.
However service sheets very useful, thanks.

Hi My C15 came to me via a friend.
It found me and as many of you know mainly in boxes.
I have had many happy hours working on this bike (not finished yet)
One thing to consider specially for me I am getting a bit old is the weight my bike is light and
easy to move around the garage.
Because this was my first classic I made my own wooden bike "table " not adjustable in height.
So getting it on and off is easy with the C15.
Although I am 6 feet in height I never considered the bike too small.
Probably when I finally ride out I may need something taller.
But I will still keep my C15
Good luck

After much help and advice from members thanks again I am getting there with the carb. settings.
Decided to recheck ignition timing.
The adjusting plate is in fully advanced position BUT spark still needs advancing.
I am guessing distributor needs reposition on crank.
Can this be done without removing the gearbox outer cover.

Singles / Fuel tap problem
« on: 05 August, 2017, 06:22:04 »
As some of you will remember I am in the process of finishing my SS80.
Fuel has been in the tank some time now and petrol leaking from the tap only at the moment when
Tap is off.
I am guessing that the unused brass tap which came with the parts is not ethanol resistant ?
Can anyone confirm the thread sizes.

Hi Phil
         Welcome to the forum.
I bought a C15 about a year ago, just completed a winter rebuild
Great fun plus lots of help from members.
BSA bikes a great place to start.
By the way B40 to just a bored out C15.

Thanks Bess
I felt like I was on Blue Peter
But now it is very useful
Dropped the needle right down but too wet to road test
When grip is twisted to a fast tickover and let go
Engine all most stops but then races
I notice Amal sell three 375 carbs with increased bore sizes
So need to do a lot more fettling

Mick your C15 seems to go really well I however am struggling with a 375 carb.
Am I correct in thinking you are on a 376 with 200 main jet ?

Singles / Re: Trial run
« on: 29 July, 2017, 22:26:03 »
Exhaust resealed.
Short road test today backfire improved
I am still using 375 carb. With 180 main
Can anyone help with needle positions and what effect on "flow"
After run plug is sooted up
May go back to 140 main with highest needle position ?
Advice welcome

Singles / C15 Hub
« on: 30 March, 2017, 21:09:32 »
Hi people
Me again thanks for all the replies.
The cracked hub is still waiting for repair.
I managed to get a good spare so will use that one.
Now my rim is not good enough to spend on a rebuild so any thought on what type of new
rim. Stainless or chrome . What about the width, I always think a wider back wheel looks well.
I have the spokes which are unmarked, worth using ?
Anyone recommend a wheel builder near Stoke on Trent ?

Thanks for the replies.
The crack is from a spoke hole.
Very fine about 1 inch in length parallel with the spindle
Julian I have the same though about the sellers mistake.

Singles / Wheel hubs
« on: 26 March, 2017, 17:51:34 »
Hi chaps/chapesses
Some of you may remember my woes.
At the moment I am trying to solve a cracked rear wheel hub.
The existing hub is I think cast iron.
However I found one advertised as alloy could this be a later type and can it be used instead
of the cast one??
Any comments appreciated as usual.

The Star and Garter / Tyres
« on: 16 March, 2017, 04:43:09 »
Hello people
Having to rebuild a C15 wheel and considering fitting a new tyre.
Existing is Avon (square looking profile)
Any advice on which to fit would be great.
Is it important to renew both at the same time.
