The Star and Garter / Air compressor question.
« on: 16 January, 2021, 16:22:44 »
Thinking of getting a compressor, mainly for cleaning carb circuits, spraying degreaser and pumping up tyres. What size tank should I chose and what PSI or Bar will I need. Been looking at one with 25 litres and about 100 PSI for about 130. Any advice would be good, I don't have too much room in the cave. OR if anyone in Essex wants to part with one please PM me.

I too have a bike with a new unstamped frame. The engine matches the V5 from new, so I am confident nothing is amiss. In theory can we stamp the new frame with the number of the damaged frame, some people state that we can't and the bike has to be re-registered. ?? I would be quite happy to have mine stamped with the old number. I borrowed a set of stamps from an old school rocker and tested them on a scrap of metal. Hardly marked it with a club hammer, so I am not confident to go near my frame with the stamps. What is the answer please. Stay safe.

Just had a leak mig welded on a small seam on an aluminium tank. I have been using POR 15 on steel tanks for years which has never let me down. I read somewhere that it won't work on non steel tanks. I only wanted to apply it to the back of the weld. Has anyone had success with anything else. Thank you.

The down pipes on mine almost hugged the frame, sounds like they could be for another year. Good luck.
