Hi Julian
I have a couple of pics but am too old and incapable of getting them on the forum! If you could let me have an e-mail address I can send them.

Thanks all for the info. Seems like the way ahead will be to try sorting the original brake before making the expensive looking change to a TLS!!

Twins / Update from Old Biker

Hi All, The A65 is now alive and well, many thanks for all the advice from various contributors during what seems to have been a long drawn out process. It now starts easily with it's Boyer ignition and charges with aplomb since the upgrade to a reg/rectifier.

The next thing on the list will need to be a front brake upgrade, has anyone done so on a 1965 full width hub A65? Would a TLS brake plate fit or is that wishful thinking!

Looks like Morris 20/50 then for the next oil change then, can I also ask which oils you use for the primary drive, gearbox and forks so that I have a complete set!

Cheers again, Old Biker

Thanks for the knowledge Julian, the attachment showing the engine numbers from the point the timing slot was introduced indicates my engine was in fact one of the very first!

Thanks again from an appreciative old biker.

Hi, I have just read Julian S's reply about the crankshaft and have a question about the timing of the changes mentioned.

My A65 is 1965 (June build) but the crankshaft does have the slot for the timing peg, Julian's reply would seem to indicate that the slot was not there until 1966 always assuming this old biker correctly understood the reply.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Cheers, Old Biker
