Hi Phil,
I use roadskins, they come in different weights, sizes and are reasonably priced. I am a 32" leg and use a 32" leg with no issues:

Singles / Re: c15 1964 oil pump scavenger ball bearing.
« on: 22 June, 2021, 19:25:08 »
Hi,
The valve in the scavenge pipe wont stop wet sumping, as there's very little oil in the pipe.

Nearly all wet sumping issues are caused by worn out oil pumps, the oil then passes from the tank feed, through the slack pump gears to the sump.

Hi Dave,
Use 88V12, it has a 18mm O/D with a 14mm I/D. Fit a short piece of 14mm rod inside the lug and inside your tube and weld the join.

Hi Dave,
There is substantial lugs available in stainless. Fitting a small length of solid SS in the lug bore and tube bore shouldn't be an issue and using dissimilar welding rods on the join would be the way forward.

https://www.heamar.co.uk/cable-lugs/79405-klauke-87v16-tubular-cable-lug-70-mm-m16-stainless-steel.html

Otherwise, there was an article in the Star less than a year ago with some really good home made formers in a rounded C shape, cut into a lump of steel. Using one of the formers against a flat lump could press out something you could use. Jan 2021, page 21 thanks to Mike Turner.

Hi Dave,
Looks like a crimp cable lug.

You could get some high quality lugs and tube, cut the tube to length and insert the tube into the lugs then silver solder the lugs each end of the tube.

Hi,
I use Fecked own design, to my eye they are a better looking sweep:

Hi,
It maybe prudent to check the primary chain tension along its full length of travel. If it is adjusted 'tight' or with a tight spot when the engine heats the gear selection is harder.

Hi Phil,
          Personally I would solder it.

Tin the end of the gauze and the inner edge of the tap first, whilst there's still heat in the tap offer them up in the position you are most happy with, heat and add some solder as the fuse together.

Hi,
Doesn't sound like the mag. Have you checked the needle position, it maybe worth trying with the needle lower 1 notch and test and then raise 1 and test.

Best wishes...
