Twins / A7 ST plunger air filter box - Fabrication
« on: 06 November, 2017, 12:57:02 »

Has anyone got any recommendations as to who might be able to fabricate an air filter box and lid for me?

I have tried several, but so far all I get is yes can do, but we need an original to work from. I don't have this, but I do have several drawings and detail photos, so if you know anyone who can help out it would be appreciated.

Many thanks for that, I will look into it.
I did try smiths direct, but nothing there so hopefully this one might be a bit more useful.

Thanks for the thought, but at present Smiths don't seem to make a clock.
I have been in contact with them and no nothing available.
Suspect my recourse will be either to one of the helpful folks on the forum, or the dreaded flea bay.

Twins / A7 ST plunger 1952 - Clock
« on: 17 October, 2017, 11:21:56 »
Trying to find a competition clock to mount alongside the speedo. This to match the setup on the Maudes trophy winning MOL303. I have checked with the National motorcycle museum who has MOL303, but there is no identifying names or numbers on their clock, so I'm struggling.

The clock is black surround and slightly smaller than the speedo, has a 12 hour dial with a reset/timer needle.
Any ideas or suggestions please?

Seem to recall a thread which mentioned loctite and mentioned I think 3 grades each in a different colour. Was it green, yellow and red?

Twins / A7ST Tank leaks - weld or liner repair kit?
« on: 02 June, 2017, 18:52:34 »
Bother, after finally putting the bike back together putting fuel in the tank I'm getting leaks around the seams.

Question  - do I try and get the seam re-welded and probably ruin the paintwork, or do I go for one of these tank repair kits?

Just to be on the safe side I've now checked with the NMM at Birmingham and they have said they'd be much happier if I didn't use any of MOL301-3 even with "Replica" added on the plate.
I know that doesn't answer for any others, but it clears where I need to be.

Thanks for all the responses, much appreciated. For those who've not read it I thoroughly recommend
"where BSA dares" to get the full details on the Maudes efforts.
As to suggestions I'm in a mind to go for "MOL 301" then perhaps in small letters "Maudes winner" or "Replica" - sound ok?
NMM in brum have agreed to give me access to MOL 303 to measure up for a missing A7 airlifted box which is the one bit I'm missing - looking forward to that.

The Star and Garter / A7 ST number plates query
« on: 16 April, 2017, 10:49:07 »
Hi, I have an A7ST Nov 1952 reg which I am rebuilding as close as I can to the bikes (correct year and model) which did the Maudes Trophy.
Does anyone know if when I put the front blade number plate on it has to have the correct numbers (ESK 560) on, or can I use one of the Maudes bikes numbers e.g. MOL 303?
I'm guessing the answer legally is no, but interested in your views.

Twins / A10 Head id
« on: 12 February, 2017, 13:07:08 »
Folks, trying to find the id on my A10 having removed it and barrels etc.and the only ID i'm picking up on the underside of the fins is  67-3066 or 67-1066. 3rd character is unclear. ID on barrels is 67-1074.
the Head inlet port is 1 1/16th and bore is def 70mm so all seems to fit, but can anyone confirm I'm either looking in the right place or the id is correct.
I have looked in the library parts listing and cant find a match.
