Hi Chaz.

Thanks for that, perhaps I wasn't completely clear but we only need to change one liner. Only one is damaged. hus the Q. Had it been all four then not a prob.

Greetigs, once again as said this is not specific BSA but may be of overall interest. As previous post so not going to repeat too much.

I have an old dry lined international 4 cyclinder engine that has been full of water and one liner is pitted beyond rescue.  The proper replacement liners are not available because the later engines had slightly larger bored liners

The newer liners are about 1/16" ID larger, and the new pistons are Aluminium rather than cast iron. So we have a greater displacement and a lighter piston. Essentially its max revs about 1200 and the comp ratio is about 5.5:1. These points would not change.

I wonder what the general thoughts are about fitting the later liner whether it would be radically different and whether it would completely unbalance the engine and cause catastrophic failure. If it had 5 main bearings I would just go for it.

In truth I am inclined to do it but thought I would run it by you all to garner opinion and wisdom. So your thoughts please.

I have had several jobs done at T&L. No complaints. Yes they do a postal service.

Happy New Year. However remember.

The New Year only brings January. From here on its up to you.

Did you buy stock linings or have them made. Just for interest did you need to put them in the freezer prior to fitting or was it a good interference fit.

You could probably do that but I think it would cause a lot of grief. especilly replacing the circlips (unless 've missed something here) I certainly wouldn't try it.

jamming kick starts not unusual.

When you kick it over dont let the kick start come  all the way  back to the to, until it starts thus the cam and cog will remain in mesh

Clutch spring.  I find that if you put the anchor washer in place then put a jubilee clip around the shaft tight up to washer, the washer stays correctly butted up whilst you fit the spring, Wiich is relatively simple with a length of nylon cord. (para cord)

I seem to recall that there were collars available to pet on the earlier studs instead of needing to 're stud' with the later size. ????

Or, why dont they get their act together, give you a date and deliver on time. Why?????because basically they dont really give a toss.

Ive just had a look at that, and dont know if that is an awfully sensible price in my situation. We'll see Any idea of the order time.

In truth I no longer ride anyway. But i would be happy to do the biz just for the sake of it.

I shall have a look at prices etc.

Sorry. Should have said is there a good reliable one for A65 in the non monumental price range.

For what its worth in my opinion. As said "its your bike, your money and your knee"

If there was(is there???)one available for an A65 I would have it fitted tomorow without any doubt.

Thanks for that 3.375 inches. But I think we are now upsides with the problem A cou[le of companies THINK they'll be able to produce a new liner bored to fit used piston. So Fingers crossed.

I'll keepyou in the loop.
