Singles / Drive worm-Oilpump-Distributer
« on: 22 March, 2017, 09:07:23 »
Todays enquiry: Is there anyone supplying new worm drives for the C15 oil pump distributor shafts, it fits onto the crank shaft, my mate needs a new one, as there is quite a lot of play in his and we have checked the drive shaft and that appears to be okay but he has about an 1/8" play when shaft is in in place.
 Thanks TTJohn

About one and a quarter turns out, then adjust as necessary after starting up.

Twins / Lack of adjustment on carb air screw
« on: 17 March, 2017, 10:14:10 »
I have had quite a problem with the A65L, now, I know it should have a monobloc carb on it as its a 63 model, however, it was fitted with a 930 concentric when I got the bike so I thought I'd leave that on there, I can run the bike on choke, when I take the choke off it cuts out, the mixture screw does not seem to have any effect at all, although I have cleaned out the pilot jet which ids the sealed type and blew it through with an air line, I have just raised the needle to the middle slot which I believe seemed to have  improved it slightly, the book states the needle should be in the first groove, now I'm thinking maybe I should try the third groove, what do the team think? :-\

Tony, I believe I may have a B31 head knocking about somewhere when I get a chance I'll see if I can find it.
BTW, this should be in the wanted or for sale section.

Singles / Re: C15 oil leaks!
« on: 17 March, 2017, 09:47:02 »
Welcome to the forum. Oil leaks are always worth trying to sort out before they get too bad, the inner and outer cases do not have gaskets but you could always make a thin paper type one to suit, I'm not sure but believe that the gear cluster comes out with the inner case but that's quite easy if you have the C15 book.
However if the bike has been laid up for some time you may need to replace the oil seal in the gearbox, by the drive sprocket, I'm sure there will be lots of response to your enquiry later.

Kind regards TTJohn

Hello Andy.
I believe they were Brunswick green & Black, also turned out burgundy & black, with part of the tank chrome, I'm sure Julian  & Arthur will be on here shortly to give their verdict. :)

Bess, I did get it wrong, I remember now the small 'o' rings were on the oil pipe flange, where it fixes to the engine body. Sorry :-[

I believe you mean the dating officer, not the secretary, I would not like to see our secretary  bogged down with dating also ::)

I use a 6V horn on a 12V system, no problem, just a little louder.

I think this was most likely done to fit a small 'o' ring, I could be wrong but I think that's what it was meant for, I seem to remember seeing one fitted to a OI frame A65.

Twins / A65L Starting problems
« on: 02 March, 2017, 12:30:31 »
Hello all just wondered if someone could put in a bit of input into a problem I have with an A65L, I've put on a Boyer Bransden ignition kit, timing is correct, I started the bike up and it cut out almost straight away, so I decided to change the carb from a concentric to a Makuni, started it up and once again it cut out just after starting, it just seems like fuel starvation, the bike has just had a rebore, new pistons rings etc, compression is good. Can anyone shed some light or give me a clues as to what the problem might be?
Answers written on a 5 note might help, if I get enough. ;)

Looking at your photo's, I would hazard a guess that there should be the same on both legs and I would think it would be the same part number.

In  my opinion I have tried positive  LED headlight bulbs from Dynamo regulator conversions, and consider them to be the best available, the pattern is okay and are much brighter, the ones from PG are not so good.
My tail light unit came from Beck Electronics in Holland, this is not a bulb but a plate which after taking out the bulb socket wire went straight into the hole but I'm not sure if he is still doing them now.

Singles / Re: B40 Front Wheel Removal

There was usually a lot of play in this type of brake plate and a lot of riders often packed them out to stop the clunking when applying the front brake, if you have one that's tight, I believe its better to leave it tight, I have even seen them with a allen screw tapped into the brake plate lug, hopefully you have not filed off too much.

I see that you say your C15 came from the states, looking at some of their sites, it seems that a lot of US bikes had a 19T sprocket on the gear box, although the standard sprocket was 17T, I have just gone up to a 18T but have not had the chance to try it out yet, I am hoping it will give me a little longer legs, I believe Feck do a 19T but I'll wait and see how the 18 performs.
