These are the sort of product stuck in the end of Tubular furniture. Take a look at They do these in Black, grey or white and a 22mm ones for example is 31 pence each including vat. OK, they are not rubber, but are durable and will do the job!
I have got some on the Thunderbolt. I had a scary moment last year when I came to remove the cover, I found black grommets in the holes. Now I have never fitted any of these in the 13 years of ownership so I thought I was going mad!! I then read in the Wiltshire Branch notes that Pete (Wiltshire Branch Chairman) had been to Popham Megameet and whilst there purchased some of the grommets for his own Lightning. As he bought a bag of 10 for pennies, he kindly adorned 2 other OIF machines with some. Mine was one of those lucky machines. Phew! I cancelled the appointment with the Psychiatrist with great relief!

I have to admit I have never studied the T65 spec as just thought of it as a Triumph. Also, to my shame, I never read the guff on that in detail probably for the same reason, or being close to the end of the book, fatigue had set in! ;D

Looks like Crofty has a T65 which must be quite rare!

Crofty, I've never seen that wiring diagram before so am intrigued to know what workshop manual it came from. My understanding from all the published books that for 1973, the model was a T65 which had a Triumph Tiger 650 engine, was fitted with the earlier front wheel, brake and mudguard, gaiters on the forks and earlier style pressed steel headlamp brackets and conical shape headlamp. (see attached pic).
My guess is they used the BSA model to shift old stock of Triumph 650 engines and Daytona wheels i.e. a bottom of the range parts bin special.
What are the letters on your engine/frame no.? (First letter is month and second is year) 1973 was H so for example if it was Dec 1973 it would be XH****.
A few pertinent questions: Is your ignition switch position towards the rear of the RH side panel?  Is the headlamp shell a flat type or more traditional conical shape? Is the light switch on the headlamp shell an on/off rotary switch with just two screw connections or a 3 position lighting switch (Toggle)?
Reasons for asking are the Lighting switch in the diagram above looks very much like the 3 pos toggle switch.

Another issue is the early ones had a 20tpi nut (the one with the slots in that grips the stem when the top yoke clamp bolt is tightened up). The later ones had a finer thread. As yiu tighten the head bearings, its kind of an on/off point between slack and graunchy. You'll know what  mean when you do it :)

You need at least a 3 position i.e 2,3&4 otherwise you need a separate light switch elsewhere in the loom which of kind of defeating the object.
A replica Lucas LU 35351 is 13.95 including lock and two keys at , cheap as chips! The replica doesnt allow you to take the key out when on parking light (which you dont need anyway nowadays, so I don't connect up to the tag that powers that. Benefit of this is you dont leave the parking light on in daylight without realising and drain your battery.

Thanks. Its the correct base and can be used on the early 1971 or later frames as it has the two positions for the hinge brackets. The cover and foam are custom made and looks comfy, but the seam down the back spoils it for me.

Brian Pollitt used to sell some SS ones when he owned Lightning Spares, they are brilliant ( I bought 1 +1 for a spare). Draganfly bought all the Lightning Spares stock so they probably have them.
