:)

Hi Derek. No No theme just a whim. Where it will go depends on what it looks like at each stage. Financial controller has part of the story. Wait till the kitchen is full of steam then walk in with a single piece and say something like "this bit came today and it only cost xxxxx" Not all the bits at once.

It will ultimately fail and I shall be demoted to sweeping the paths again.

TC

Do you never get to a stage when the missus doesn't care what parts you get sent in the post, i was hoping with time that it would get easier!

keep up with the pics please.

 ;)

Is there a theme here Mike?

What A65 had a gold coloured frame?  8)

Is it a gold flash tribute?  :)

And more importantly has the financial controller found out yet?   ;)

I live in Largs and would be happy to attend meetings in Glasgow if there was a club branch based there.

Thats 2 of us then! (after i join of course)

Its good to see the forum as active as it is, there is a wealth of knowledge out there and its obvious that most of the people on the forum are all willing to help each other.

I am not a member of the Bsa owners club for no other reason than i cant get to any of the club meetings as i don't think there is a branch in Glasgow!

Mine is points ignition. The bike starts, but, to recap: 1) when you turn on the lights, they don't come on and the engine immediately cuts out when you turn on the headlight;  2) there was a poof and smoke somewhere near the battery today when I was kicking the engine over;  3) the ammeter now stays about zero, rather than shows a positive reading as before today.  I'm guessing a new battery might be one thing needed.  I don't see a fuse (maybe need to look harder) and I don't think any are shown on the wiring diagram.  Anyway, and ideas regarding the points 1, 2 and 3 above please?  Phil (novice.)

There is a short circuit on the negative side, probably at light switch. Poof and smoke could be wiring nearer battery terminals without seeing it difficult to diagnose.

Maybe going off on a tangent but my trials Cub has  Boyer ignition and doesn't need a battery at all. As long as the alternator is ok, most electronic systems don't.

Not so sure about that  ;)

Electrex world do a self generating ignition that doesn't need a battery and PVL ignition is same. Electrex world also produce a lighting/ignition coil setup.

My A65 has boyer ignition and if less than 12v from battery it wont spark.

Do Boyer Brandsen make a self generating ignition system?
