Twins / A7 SS dynamo ?

  Had problems with the regulator on my 58 A7. Fried a battery and chnged the regulator and all OK for a week or two. Now all I get from the dynamo is , at max, 1.8v. The brushes seem ok and not fried. Any easy suggestions or is it a new dynamo ?.....   Griff

  Can any body give me the specs of the early c15 Trials models. I belive some early bikes had 20" front wheels, but for how long ? Also I don't think the alloy tank was on the early bikes as I had one in 1960. The tank was blue and metal and mine had a 21" front wheel , also the side stand was welded to the rear swing arm on the same side as the gear lever. The chain guard was a steel unit and a basic oil tank as per C15 road bike. Yes I had a C15T new , specialy ordered with lights fitted.   Where is the best place to get all info so I can reconstruct my past bike ?    Thanks....   Griff

The Star and Garter / Telford off Road Show.

  As most will be aware it is the Telford off Road Show  this weekend (16-17th Feb)  I will be there flying the BSA flag with my Gollner Bantam. It will be on the Old Codgers and friends stand. Call in and say hello and you never know the kettle could well be on...   Griff

  As most of you are aware the best event on the Island is again at the end of August. How many members are going and how do you fancy a get together during the fortnight ? I could get a serious sized table organised in the Tynwald Inn or the Ginger Hall.  We have plenty of time to think about it but would need a good idea by May of any serious interest if it is to be a goer  .
          Also there marshalls wanted on the circuit. Done it for the last 10 years and it is something you would enjoy, specially on the Mountain as you could be part og the 'Orange Army' and see racing in places where you normally would not be permitted to go. Parking as well.  I'll be on the club stand at Stafford if you wnt to discuss future marshaling....      Griff

  The entry forms are now available for this years event on 22nd September.  I've entered . Have any other member entered or going to enter ? It's a fantastic weekend and for the campers... a free weekend.. I'll be riding my Gollner Bantam, a bike with some tasty history.    ::)   Griff

Bantam / D13B carb.

  Recently bought a D13B that is supposed to have been restored and been in a conservatory for 5 years. No reason to doubt most of what I was told . (It was bought before the divorce was done and dusted so a nice price)  All dry except for the 'new concentric' as the previous owner had run it for a few minutes after the re-build. The carby was full of , looked more like semi solid vaseline but was modern fuel gone wrong. Cleaned the carb fully and topped all the oils. Put some oil into the bore for a day or two, cleaned it out  , then tried to start it . Fuel was OK in the carb, after 20 or so kicks the plug was wet but no effort to start . Tried some easy start and she burbled for 30 seconds or so but died . Just would not go on the petrol. Bit more easy  start and run again for another short burst. I'm wondering if the correct carb has been fitted ? I mean not the number but the jets so my question is for a concentric, what jets and needle should be in this carb ?    Griff

  Have a speedo problem on my A7SS , any recomendations for repair services. Seem to remember I once used a compny  (one man band) in the East Midlands but can I find the paperwork or remember who did the work on my Goldie rev counter   ?    Griff

Bantam / D14B Sport.

  My Bantam has suddenly decided to stop changing gear. One minute working perfectly OK then came to use it yesterday and all it would select was bottom gear. Seems when lifting the lever nothing ws happening . Any suggestions as to what to look for ?    Griff

Twins / A7 front forks.

I am thinking of putting a twin leading brake wheel on my A7 SS and my queery is , can I just put the lower half of the forks off a heavy duty C15/C25 as they will take the spindle ?   Griff

  I've just picked-up a D13 Bantam. Completely restored and looking well. How common are these bikes and was it a bargain at under a grand ?  It has been said Dick turpin  could be a relarion of mine.......  :o  Griff

Just after thoughts on the best plug for a D14B. Yes I know the one it runs best on though suggestions as to what others ud=se caould be helpful. My old best don't want to start too easily when cold. Once going and hot its a one kick job.   Griff

Bantam / Gearing on a Bantam

Got a D14S thats on trials gears. As I am doing the Beamish and one or two other long distance trials I want to up the gearing a touch . At present it has 12 front and 64 teeth rear sprocket. Any suggestions for sprocket sizes to up the pace a bit from 30 mph flat on the stop and a screaming engine ?   Griff

   Taking the bull by the horns and buying a new carby (Amal 375) for my C12. The old one has gone Welsh (plenty of leeks) and a bit tempermental so on with a new piece. Looking for suggestions as to the best supplier , (for that read price) Must have it running right for the MGP..   Griff
