BSA parts bulletin G15 from 1960 lists 7 different 3 1/4 inch round tank badge colour combinations, 6 variations of part 56 8220 and 1 part 41 8004. Unfortunately it does not tell use which badge went with which bike. I think it inevitable, due to the demand, that not all colours will be available as newly made items.
BSA master price list from September 1970 has "use 41 8004" against part 65 8220.

I would imagine that you've cleaned and adjusted the contact points, they are .012" gap.
The other important thing is there must not be any suppression in the plug lead , in other words 0 ohms resistance in the plug cap.
Worth checking this.
