Isn't an NKG (B8ES) a bit hot. I used to use this in a Velocette Venom with rather a high compression ration. I would have thought a softer B6.....or similar would be a better option.

Try plumbers PTFE tape when installing the stud.

Maybe let us know where you live. Someone local to you could help out.

Geoff. An old carb is worn. Don't mess about with old carbs. Buy a new one.

I suppose the most important thing is, where are you?

If it's any help, my 1969 B44 rocker box studs are 1/4" BSF.

Just a thought. Knobbly tyres on a pushbike really reduce top speed and take a lot more effort to ride. Do you think they have the same effect on a motorcycle?

Hi Jim. You could use a length of dowel to hold the cone. It's just a matter of putting pressure on it.

In addition to Rhyatt. Has the gearbox outer casing been off and the rack and pinion shaft not been positioned correctly.

Not sure if this helps but I have a 1969 B44SS. I had clutch problems and it looked as though it had the wrong length (shorter) springs fitted. I bought the correct length springs but could hardly open the clutch. If I released the pressure on the springs to allow the clutch to work, the clutch spring nuts fouled the chaincase. So I reverted back to the original springs.

Triples / Re: R3 choke

I'm rebuilding a mk1 Rocket 3 imported from the states. I've had exactly the same problem as you. Just about get it started , open the throttle and it stops. Someone local in the TR3OC lent me a set of carbs. I installed them and got him down to start the bike. He had the chokes with the lever on the carb gantry. Chokes on; tickle all carbs; turn engine over three times; kick and it started second time and revved. My bike needs the chokes. I've bought new premier carbs and am in the process of trying to route the cables!
