well as I said at the chromes would not even except my Exhausts unless I cleaned them out first and then they would not do any repairs to them. it just seemed as if they wanted them perfect just to put the shinny stuff on and most of the polishing was all ready done for them along with the repairs like small dents etc, they started saying they would be 150 a pipe and there is 3 pipes, after 2 weeks that went up to 200 a pipe due to they say the cost of copper going up in price, anyway after about 13 weeks or so and loads of emails to say what's going on I got them back at 849 that was less the cost of postage and ins which came to this chrome lark is Not cheap if you are restoring a motorcycle, but as I say I am well happy Now they are done and on the bike and looks Great.

Hello all

Well I just started my BSA RGS up Today since last sept after getting knocked off my other bike on the way back home from a bike show, well she started ok but I kept the oil cap off and had her running for about 2 mins and No oil was retuning to the tank, it is fitted with a SRM oil pump so any ideas what it is.

Cheers Mo

Twins / Re: A10 Crankcase Breather Check
« on: 18 August, 2021, 00:34:23 »

yes if you have done a rebuild and the pistons rings have not bedded in after only a few miles yes it might trough a bit of oil out the breather, also yes you can check the end flout of the cam as there should not be any play as the Breather will Not work right, I had the same problem so I took off the inner case and put in a thicker 5/32 cork ring put it back together and got no more problem. I also fitted a pipe in the breather hole and took it out the back of the bike so if any oil did come out it would Not throw oil all over the engine and then thinking I have an oil leak from somewhere else.

Hope this helps.

Hi John.....yes I have put it back together and no I used the High strength Loctite an it has been fine and worked a treat, But thanks for the warning... as to where that metal bits came from hell knows as there is no way it came from anything in the bottom end.....unless who put the engine together had something drop in when the still had the barrels or head I am very clean around my work area when doing a rebuild so there will not be anything going in where it should Not be.

cheers Mo

well we back

Good News the bolts and nut turned up yesterday and I put the bottom end back together and yes No hitting the cases so it must have been the bolts and Nut`s the problem so hope Now I can get on with the rest of the build.

Thanks all Mo

Hi  Dave

yes I also think might be the case that the bolts might have stretched some along the way as might have been used a few times but I am Not taken any chances as we said replace with new to be sure, so when they get here I will indeed retry everything before I fit it all back together.

Hi Dave

No I did Not replace them as I was told they would be ok to use again...But I like you dont want to be doing this job again so I have just ordered a new set of Bolts and Nut from D/F today.

also got told if I put the pistons on with the barrels then check to see .... as they might not hit as you say they are close anyway,

Hello all.

Well an update on the rebuild or lack of it at the moment, I got them casing and they are really good but now comes a problem, I took my Crank Bush out of the old casings and put in the new ones I got put new shells on and cleaned the sludge out Not as if there was much in there after only 2,300 but done it as a matter of course, put the two half's together and one of the Big end bolts is hitting on the inside of the casing on the pump side can`t see why that is the left is fine any ides this build is being a bit of a nightmare  :-X

Cheers Mo
