all the above, clean all the tiny holes, and clean them often, as the ethanol in our fuel goes off if you have bike stood, blocking them again.

make one that works for you,
on a secondary note, i cut an old small plastic tablet tub in half, then i poke that into hole as a catcher, in case i loose that nut (yes i have)

no matter what you do it will leak, iv had side cased on a c15 machined flat and they still leaked.
iv got one a bike that iv just done a non return manual shut off for the oil feed, but thats not to stop a leak thats to stop wet sumping
the non return valve you mention, will be in the engine oil feed just inside the crank case. engine apart to sort that.

just a fair warning
these are the worst company i have ever dealt with, even worse than adrian flux
they have missed collection 3 times, each time some bull story from a online helpline asking to re-book, even had a phone call today from their support team saying it will be collected today blah blah blah
still not collected. its tyres so nothing outstanding size wise

yeah i feel it
my wife is forever reminding me of whats on the kitchen top, BUT if she moves it, thats it, lost, looking for things i usually start at the bathroom cabinet and go from there. Including lost shoes, socks, magazines, and spanners.

ok quick question and thoughts,
My bushman tank is in overall great condition, theres no paint on it, just metal , and it looks ages as it should, so
im about to strip and renovate the bike for summer racing (vintage flat track) and wondered if i should re-do the paint back to original? of leave the tank patina as is.
i do have another tank in same condition but with a large butt dent from the forks grrrr, that i wondered of it could be repaired?
ps:i do like the patina style

i couldnt agree more guys, i see bantams values increasing all the time and think wow thats great. It also allows first time owners of classics to get a foot in the door without breaking the bank or the marriage

Bantam / to bantam or not

was out other day witha pal for a ride, and we went to visit a local classic dealer, he had his full array of nice to haves and would love to haves, and we got chatting about bantams.
told him i had a bushman, and a d14, and he laughed, stating what they all say, why would you buy/ bother and all that, and i tried to explain that in most cases, they are simple cheap, easily recognisable, and furthermore collectable.
it was like id shot his wife....... he said "i could make a call now and get 3 bantams here and give less then 1500 for them all"
why dont you thought i? then it dawned on me, that regardless, yes he may well could, and maybe we couldnt get 3 for that price, but if i did they would be mine. and thats my point, regardless, i enjoy what i enjoy, and no amount of price or rarety changes, im sure i get equally amount of smiles on my bushman as i would i i owned a brough superior (i actually can only wish on that front
)

hi bob,
its not just the tank ethanol gets to its the carb jets, make stem gum up, if you pop some water in petrol and shake it about, let it settle, about half hour you will have seen separation, the water will be cloudy and the fuel clearer.
now dont forget the amount of moisture in your standing tank could be very minimal, good garage, good insulation, etc etc. lesser garages will cause more water vapor in tank, tank rots, thats why you have done so well i think.
also if you buy higher grade fuel, shell optimax for example, it has lesser amount of ethanol.
anyhoo thats my best answer hope it helps

hi,
i think theres a ball bearing inside the actuator arm that pushes against the pushrod, its captive so possibly wont show on the schematic as its part of the arm? you might not be able to see it unless you have the casing off

well i found the casting number its 40-121 then A1-1
port sizes are 30mm and 27mm sorry its in mm my gauge was set at that but converted im at 11/4 and 1.06

Is there any lateral movement in the mainshaft? If so then operating the clutch lever may move the shaft and clutch a fraction before the clutch starts to lift.
yes i do
now iv just started to undoo the 3 spring cup washers again. and noticed that the whole basket assembly moves / rocks about probably 16th inch, which could very well be the movement in the mainshaft you mention, unless its supposed to move, with the spring cups tight no movement noticed

hi Dave, new cable and no movement, as i said theres some slack at the lever as there should be, and the cable at the lever arm isnt pulling on the arm
im going to have to strip it and take pics along the way for help
