Singles / Primary chain case seal B31
18 August, 2024, 18:08:13
Not having a lot of luck with sealing the primary chain case on my B31. It has the pressed steel chain case. I've replaced the cork gasket and put a bit of compound on one side so it's effectively glued to the outer cover and comes away with it when removed. I'm thinking about a making a gasket out of a different material e.g. neoprene foam sheet.
Anyone been successful trying something like this?
I don't want to seal it up fully with silicone as I tend to be in and out of there quite often playing with the clutch etc. so I would prefer the cases to seperate easily and not need old sealant to be scraped off and reapplied every time.

Singles / Differences between B31 and B33
13 August, 2024, 06:50:08
How noticeable is the difference between a sorted B31 and a sorted B33 when riding? Will the B33 comfortably cruise a bit faster than the 55 I do on my B31? Is the B33 more vibey? Is the the B33 less inclined to slow down on steep hills etc etc?
Thanks

Singles / B31 plunger rear chain number of links
04 August, 2024, 18:24:06
Quick query for any owners of plunger frame B31s -

How many links in your rear chain?

NOTE - I'm NOT interested in what the manual says (or what online specs say).

Thanks!

Ive recently replaced the seals, bushes and springs on the forks on my 1953 plunger frame B31.
The bushes supplied as being correct are longer than the ones fitted previously. The new ones are approximately 2 inches long whereas the old ones were more like 1 - 1 1/4 inch long. The new ones I have fitted match the part number according to Draganfly's spares diagram.
I have also fitted progressive fork springs which are around an inch longer than the old ones. I have assumed that the old springs have sagged as they are also different lengths to each other.
The culmination of this is the forks top out earlier as the increased preload makes the fork float with the lower bush closer to the now longer top bush. This results in a clonk as the forks top out going over uneven road.
I'm tempted to remove the bushes and shorten them. I think the originals were probably C15 size.
Can anyone let me know if this topping out is common on B31 forks and also what length top bushes you'd expect to have fitted.
Thanks.
