Twins / steering problems
« on: 19 September, 2021, 17:28:25 »
A65 issue with steering, when its on a centre stand, steering is nice and smooth and free, you can push it around off the stand absolutly fine, when riding it seems horendously heavey and hard, the tyres on the bike i think are rubbish they were on the bike when i got hold of it i think they are eastern european made look like mild off road tyres, (brand new) the bike when riding seems to tram line a lot especially when you get off the throttle, it gets a shudder and shake up and starts to snake a little, very unerving when trying to turn itno a bend or roundabout
Any ides?
i will look for some road orientated tyres which i am open to advise please on makes type etc

Twins / Covid 19 prompt!!
« on: 23 April, 2020, 22:16:09 »
Well its been just over a year since i purchased a 1970 A65 Lightning LA which is a import and has been laid up for around 20 years we think, when i got hold of her the guy that owned her had done a fair bit, the top end had already been done, head, valves bores, pistons, etc, when i got her home i started to have a closer look he had explained that he had just put loosely together for selling purposes, which is fine i asked if he had done anything to the bottom end no was the answer,Whoops! i pulled the engine out and stripped it down........ regrind crank, little ends, big ends, mains and all other bearings, sludge trap, balance crank and rods, SRM oil pump, and the storey just goes on and on and ONNN. Well with Covid 19 and bit of time on my hands so the re-build starts,   3 weeks later  all back together first kick after a tickle up she fires up!! the new wassel elctronic ignition works fine, a bit of a tweak on the carbs and a new clutch cable and adjusting ferrel in the case all ok rode it around the property and our lane all seems good, ; ; i have attached a couple of pics of what she looks like now. Beleive me theres a lot more parts been fitted to the bike than mentioned above. Just got to get it Registered with DVLA now the NOVA has been paid so hopefully shouldnt be to much of a pain.

Hi Guys with plenty of time on my hands a have started to continue the rebuild, one question if someone can answer please
i have put my engine back in the frame after a complete engine rebuild with new pump etc, etc etc i have fitted a new remote oil filter, when i have filled the tank with oil, and started to crank the engine on the kick start, i cannot seem to get any oil out of any of the pipes, the pressure switch and releif valve have oil coming out, but cannot get any into the filter/cam pipe??? is this correct until the engine has fired up??
