just a fair warning

these are the worst company i have ever dealt with, even worse than adrian flux

they have missed collection 3 times, each time some bull story from a online helpline asking to re-book, even had a phone call today from their support team saying it will be collected today blah blah blah

still not collected. its tyres so nothing outstanding size wise

Bantam / D14 tank

ok quick question and thoughts,
My bushman tank is in overall great condition, theres no paint on it, just metal , and it looks ages as it should, so

im about to strip and renovate the bike for summer racing (vintage flat track) and wondered if i should re-do the paint back to original? of leave the tank patina as is.

i do have another tank in same condition but with a large butt dent from the forks grrrr, that i wondered of it could be repaired?

ps:i do like the patina style :)

Bantam / to bantam or not

was out other day witha pal for a ride, and we went to visit a local classic dealer, he had his full array of nice to haves and would love to haves, and we got chatting about bantams.

told him i had a bushman, and a d14, and he laughed, stating what they all say, why would you buy/ bother and all that, and i tried to explain that in most cases, they are simple cheap, easily recognisable, and furthermore collectable.

it was like id shot his wife....... he said "i could make a call now and get 3 bantams here and give less then 1500 for them all"

why dont you thought i? then it dawned on me, that regardless, yes he may well could, and maybe we couldnt get 3 for that price, but if i did they would be mine. and thats my point, regardless, i enjoy what i enjoy, and no amount of price or rarety changes, im sure i get equally amount of smiles on my bushman as i would i i owned a brough superior (i actually can only wish on that front  ::) )

well that was my quick bantam rant

Hi all,

the time spent vs enjoyment obtained has tipped far too much into time, so at this moment, im after a mechanic who can fettle my pre unit clutch.

Very long story. but over the bikes years its been stood dry, now if come to re commission it the clutch wont operate, iv had it to bits more times over past few days yjam i care to think, iv gone through the whole list of what it needs to do to work, and some it doesnt need. and im now at a loss.

So does anyone know someone who can do the job of getting the bike to move please

Singles / c 11 clutch issues

the clutch cable and lever are offering no pull on the clutch at all, in fact the lever on the gear box just waggles up and down with no significant pressure.

before i remove gearbox and look, any pointers as to possible culprit?

Singles / c11 primary case oil quantity

just getting the c11 ready for use, and new oil in and fuel, but, for the life of me i cant recall how much oil to drop into the primary

iv put in about 50ml of gear oil (80/90 mineral) through the case, i just dont know if thats enough, or too much, i didnt write it down in my little book.

i know engine oil or ATF oil or even just chain lube works, i just had some gear oil left from filling the gear box,

Iv been having a go over winter at this 'dirt diggers' event where anything goes, any bike and all ability, so
had a great laugh on the bushman, wasnt last, fairly consistent mid pack, and as usual the bike did all i could ask

sorry but this may seem very simple, but is there any way of repairing a horn please?

i have an original horn circa 1940's that wont work, before i strip off the 12 or so nuts and what have you just thought id ask first

so while im getting bike sorted for the better weather, iv come to realise that the left riders foot peg is rotating, and rotating onto the brake.

I cant tighten it up ant more, as theres limited thread on the bar, and it only tightens up at 1 point??

i think over the years someone has modified this, as it looks wrong.

The footpeg mar that goes through is octagonal, and welded onto the peg, and around 1/2" of thread other end, od which tightens the whole lot up.

how can i tighten it up to stop it moving ?

Im following on from another thread about oil priming, and before i fill with oil, i have seen one way valves advertised on ebay, to overcome wet sumping.

any thoughts on these please, and would you recommend 2?

Bantam / D14 frame number

hi all, just a quick one regarding the frame number on one of my bikes

the bike is a D14 c? trails type/ style bike. the engine is missing and the frame has had numerous welds, chops and grinds in life, and i can barely see all the numbers,

but its getting split down and sent for blasting which may help, hopefully the powder coater can note any thing he sees down before coating it

so the frame number is as far as i can make out (on the headstock, as the bottom mount does not exist) is D14C (possibly an 0 or 8 ) 191B(possibly 8) 175

does this sound about right?

hi all, just removed this from my D14, its a side case / airbox / storage set up.

Its very well made, although hand painted in hammerite!!!! and the airbox set up is integrated into the side with an attached filter.

was this a home made item or was it a proper made part?
