Singles / B33 Electrickery!!!!!
« on: 25 September, 2017, 19:25:32 »
Having finally got the gearbox/clutch primary drive sorted and  been on a couple of test rides and been pleasantly surprised with the results of my labours I have turned my attention to the electrics . the charging side is not good.Battery appears to discharge quickly and there appears to be no charge from the dynamo . I have looked at the component parts and am awaiting  new battery and voltage regulator (electronic not mechanical).
My query is what type of wire do I use to connect the dynamo to the voltage regulator as I am sure that the domestic 3 core flex that the previous owner used is not really helping !!!!!He has used the live and neutral wires and cut the earth wire down !!!!!!

The Star and Garter / precision engineers in worcestershire
« on: 25 August, 2017, 17:00:49 »
Hi all
i was looking for recommendations for someone in the area local to B60/61 that could either make or alter a part for me.
the part is the cush drive distance piece for a B33 engine ( engine no BM33 7086)
I think i am right in saying the original part no is 65-2540 (.233"-.238")which I am unable to source.
 I have however sourced a new part for a B33 part no 65-2528 (.320"-.325")
so I have 2 options either have the bigger one machined down to size or use measurements from the two sources to make a new one.
thanks in anticipation

Singles / b33 gearbox clutch cable mount
« on: 21 August, 2017, 15:35:23 »
hi all having just swapped over the  gearbox on my bike there is a difference in the clutch cable mount in that the original had a slot cut in the top allowing the cable to pass through and the mount was threaded allowing the adjuster to be screwed in and then a locknut fitted to tighten . the replacement has no slot and no threading and is a larger diameter hole and the locknut on the cable is captive as it will not pass over the nipple  to allow me to pass it through the hole.
Is there a different cable type for the replacement box with a lock nut either side ? Both boxes are stamped STD
If not what other options do I have ?
thanks Ian

Singles / B33 Gearbox casing clutch Arm grease nipple
« on: 22 July, 2017, 14:26:51 »
Having recently purchased a 1955 BSA which is an A7 frame with a B33 engine fitted I am in the process of "tidying up".The grease nipple for the clutch arm was missing so I have replaced it but having no joy getting grease in I have stripped and removed the arm from the outer casing and it appears that the brass bushing in the case is a solid tube so that the grease cannot get between the bush and the shaft.was this a a later adaptation or should there be an access hole in the sleeve? Can a hole be drilled and what size ?
Cheers Ian
