The Star and Garter / Metal Tank Badges - Best Ever?
« on: 07 September, 2020, 16:51:18 »
In the July issue of The Star, page 13 there is an advert for Carl Smith, specialist hand lining.

He was happy to carry out some lining for me which was faultless so I asked if he would tackle the Metal badges as I have always had a problem getting a vibrant end product. I sent him an old set to practice and a new golden set for the bike. I think they are outstanding, thanks to The Star and Carl.

If anyone is interested in the practice set let me know.

Best wishes...

I would like to control the 2 Carbs from a single bowden cable to a linkage system above or adjacent.

Has anyone done this or have plans for such a system?

Not sure if this post is allowed?

A nice saving if you are in the market for cables etc - 25% discount using code VH25 until 31st May.

Here's the A10 I always wanted to build but couldn't afford it until last year. Lots of none standard stuff but a dream to ride.

Twins / Re: Engine install

I am going to put an A65 engine back into the frame. I usually have help but in this time of social isolating I'm on my own.

Has anyone built or cobbled up some method of lowering the engine in without dropping it or damaging the paintwork?

Found this tip, I would use it in the future if I didn't readily have a nipple:

Can anyone help with the bracket dimensions.

I believe it should be offset and the one I have been supplied is of equal dimensions.

The Star and Garter / Re: London Motorcycle Museum Closing
« on: 22 September, 2019, 15:05:15 »
Some sad news and maybe an opportunity if you're looking for that hard to find bike. Quote from them:

"The London Motorcycle Museum would like to announce that the doors will close for good at 4pm on Monday 7th. October 2019. In May we celebrated 20 fulfilling years of sharing our rich and varied British motorcycle history and culture with visitors from around the globe. Our visitorsí books are full of enthusiastic comments and encouragement but sadly those do not pay the bills and we are now at a point where we are not able to continue. We would like to whole heartedly thank all our dedicated volunteers over the years and everyone who has ever visited or expressed their support.

For those of you interested, part of the Crosby Collection from the museum will be sold at Bonhamís Stafford auction on Saturday 19th. October."

Twins / Re: QD Crinkle hub
« on: 04 September, 2019, 20:22:29 »
I have 2 crinkle hubs, 1 has a LH tread on the speedo drive the other RH thread on the speedo drive. I need one for an A65 which I guess would be the LH thread? if so what bike would use the RH tread?

Any advice welcome.

The Star and Garter / Re: Help Identifying TLS Brake Plate
« on: 13 August, 2019, 09:33:47 »
Hi All,
I have this TLS brake plate and hub amongst a box of BSA spares. Can anyone help me identify which bike would use it, or its origin?

I'm not affiliated or sure if this is allowed remove if not, but could be useful for some members:
