We have now finalised our venue for the weekend, which is to be the Between Rivers Campsite, Broad Lane, Sykehouse, DN14 9AU.
There is a Pub and Biker Cafe on site, so all refreshment demands should be met!! We look forward to seeing you there.. Ian aka Frank

1973 Range to Present Day / My Goldstar
31 May, 2024, 17:59:43
I bought mine second hand for a very good price last October with 850 miles on the clock. Roll forward to me riding it to the Birmingham camp recently, I noticed oil mist on the primary cover (I know it's not really, but it's nearside of engine) and oil around the head to barrel joint. Cut a long story short, the head will have to be replaced which should be happening around the time I write this. I'm just glad of the 4 years warranty, but I really want to be riding it and its been away now since the 11th of May.

Has anyone else noticed the AI descriptions on e**y that are complete rhubarb.. They sound to me as if the voiceover man on Sale of the Century was describing their cr*p prizes!!  ::)

It's that time of year again when we all think of sunnier days and meeting up with mates for a laugh and good banter!! Please see the attached advert for our camp which will give basic information for the venue which is Squires Biker Café, near Sherburn in Elmet, LS25 5LX.
I have to add that anyone wishing to attend please book directly with Squires via their website or call them in good time and inform them that you are from the BSAOC!! It's so they have a rough idea of numbers to enable a decent plot for allocation to our group.
Please call them on 01977 684618 or for those of you wishing to use their online booking option :- https://www.squires-cafe.co.uk/camping/booking-online/ then click on the Pitchup.com icon.

We're looking forward to meeting up with friends old and new!!

Has anyone else received a V211 Last Chance Reminder from the DVLA? As I wasn't aware of the new system that began in August, this letter arrived telling me I would be fined £80 even though the tax is free!! Anyone with a 'few' vehicles in their fleet will need to register for either email or text renewals with the DVLA.

A new venue for this year folks.. Please contact Wendy at the Linton Lock Inn, YO30 2AZ on 01347 848844 or lintonlockinn@yahoo.com and to let her know whether you'll be tenting, motorhoming or caravanning and tell her you're with the BSAOC. If you need electric hookup especially book for this as space is limited!! The Pub provides delicious home-cooked meals to order, and can accommodate all dietary requirements, although won't be open for breakfast. In view of this, Anita has agreed to russle up breakfast butties for both mornings, but please let me know if you want breakfast so we have an idea of how many to cater for. There are good facilities for campers with a Toilet and shower block, Washing-up area under cover and Chemical toilet disposal and the location is by the Ouse so plenty of beautiful scenery.. So we look forward to seeing you there!!

Obviously this may be subject to any Government Covid restrictions, but hopefully we should be in a position to welcome friends old and new!! The Star and Garter / 1972 A65 Seat Cover
21 February, 2021, 15:32:56
I have a correct BSA 1972 seat, which I plan to use as a pattern to have some realistic replicas manufactured.  I don't like what is currently available on the market and think the OEM BSA version to be asthetically much more pleasing. Now the down side.. to have the tooling made to produce the pattern, I have to order at least 25 covers!!  I have a friend in the club that would take one, so that's 2 spoken for including my own of course.. I'll let you know how things go..

Twins / 1970 A65 Firebird Fork top nuts
11 July, 2020, 11:09:44
Would anyone be able to measure the OD of the 1 1/16" X 28 thread on any top nuts they may have lying around? I bought some 'LF Harris' ones (part no. 97-2245) and I'm suprisingly disappointed at the fit into the stanchions.. 1 1/16" = 1.0625" and the OD of the thread on these top nuts is 1.049" so they are 0.013" undersize. I realise they don't have to do much of a job when fitted to the bike, but you'd expect a better fit than that. :-\

FYI... Although not indicated on the Events Calender in the June 2020 Star mag, our branch camp is cancelled.  Ian.

Twins / 1970 A65 Firebird
14 May, 2020, 13:50:57
Title is for my latest project. This bike was repatriated from Illinois so I assume it is an East Coast model. I know that the LH sidepanel should have the standard 'Firebird 650' transfer, but the RH sidepanel has what I believe to be, a unique for 1970 'BSA' transfer. Can anyone either help me to identify the font or point me in the right direction of someone who could sell this transfer? I know my bikes sidepanel had this BSA transfer originally as I can see the faint outline on the panel in the paint.

The Star and Garter / January Star
09 January, 2020, 13:20:04
In response to the 'Desert War BSA' article in this months Star, I would like to let Gareth Hayton know that the bike in the picture appears to be a Norton 16H and not a WDM20 as stated. Apart from that it's a good article!! (Soapbox now put away!!)
