Are many of our club members likely to call in on the stand and say hello. we 'll be looking forward to seeing you all and enjoying a little chat. Though there will be one member who is likely to cause mayhem on the stand...  See oyu there ..   Griff

The Star and Garter / Bushman...
« on: 04 February, 2022, 18:31:26 »
Just finished a re-build on my D10 Bushman. Yes bought in on this site and am more than happy with the result.. It will be on show at the Telford off Road Show  12/13th Feb on the Owd Codgers stand . I belive we will be in the forecourt so a prime spot for 2 if not 3 of my off-road BSA's  . If anybody comes to the show make yourself known.. The kettle might be on... . As there is some history to the bike it could even make an article for the  mag. It's a small world as they say.... The Star and Garter / Non PC ?
« on: 15 December, 2021, 13:19:16 »
It had to be started so Merry Christmas to all and a healthy, Happy New Year. Lets hope the bug burns it way out and we can start to enjoy bikes to the full again. With luck there should be a BSA stand at Stafford and the serious members keep some of the rabble under control , though the Hon Sec is known to cause havoc . As to publicity ? The Admiral lives in a yellow submarine. Other than that have a super time, get those bikes fettled and running plus not too much paint on the floor , keep it on the metal... Rubber side down at all times and hope to see you all very soon....     Griff

Twins / A50 ignition switch ?
« on: 26 November, 2021, 08:23:38 »
Bit of a daft question, my A50 has had a 'corned beef opening key' in the ignition. It works fine but my question is Were the original switches (1964 model) spade type keys or the other type ?   Bit too cold to go out taking electrice to bits today...   Griff

« on: 25 November, 2021, 18:56:41 »

We are back lads and lets ho 'Bully' gets a test bike... He's done enough for the club to deserve one..  Will it be wit Narn bread or chippatis ? Griff

The Star and Garter / NEC Show...
« on: 15 November, 2021, 19:25:59 »
Just a note about the Classic Car and Bike show... Yes the BSA lads were there in good numbers and all were very quiet and respectful to the Hon Sec and the publicity guru. Members were recruited and paid their dues . Though it was a bit dodgy giving a scouser readies of the realm. There was one person present riding a scooter each and every day and even had the audacity to ride amongst the public when he was on a mission to collect the coffee's and teas. The kettle was not available so we had to cough-up for a brew. De-hydration was close on some members as they were looking after the pennies for fortification when the bar was open.
The main topic on each day was not the meeting in Scotland about the polution but how to extract urine from any poor mermber that dared to put his head over the parapit. One new recruit was included in one of the sketches and will return to Leeds in need of psyciatric nursing after the pasting he received and that was for only signing the membership form... I also have to report Arthur broke his lap record on the scooter and managed to lift a wheel when sliding onto the stand where all the youthful members dance ut of his way as directions of the scooter were more by luck than design.
Will I come back to the NEC for another show ??  Depends if I get invited and 'Dads army ' let me out of my (to be fitted )   jacket.. (of the straight varity).  I shall now go and lie down so that the nurse can administer the needed medication preferably malt from Scotland.....     Griff

Bantam / Wheels and tyres on a D10 Bushman
« on: 13 October, 2021, 18:30:53 »
Had a discussion about wheel sizes for the Bushman at Stafford. My D10 has at present some tin worm 19" rims. I'm replacing these with alloys and wondering what the size should be.. Some say 18" rear and 19" front. Can't find anything official to give me the correct size . Yes going down the alloy track as the bike is going to be used off road on gentle green lanes. Oh yes tyre sizes , possibly 300 front and 325 rear or would 350 be a tad on the large size...   Thanks

The Star and Garter / D10 Bushman
« on: 09 September, 2021, 09:50:05 »
Yes a genuine D10 Bushman in my sweaty mits. Just have to do the painting (well local body shop will do it !) so I'm wondering what the correct colours are and preferably a paint code ?  I have the Bushman stickers so all that is needed now are the paint numbers . Looking forward to using this bike for what it is intended , oh yes and the odd show thrown-in....

Which BSA do you ride? / C12T
« on: 29 October, 2020, 08:18:02 »
Occasionally ride a C12 converted to trials, interesring old thing that is not a winning bike but great fun and lovely on green lanes.... Also have a Gollner Bantam , but thats for serious competitions and as age has caught-up will be sponsoring my son to ride it in serious trials. On the trials theme I also have the Earls Court show bike from 1962 and frame C15C 101, That's also ridden occasionally in 'dead easy' trials and for riding to do observing duties in National events. SSDT etc.   Griff
