Which BSA do you ride? / Re: My 1955 Road Rocket

First thing I did the other day was ordering a new seat. The one that can be seen in the photos is the original from 1955 and is the only part that didn't survive all these years. The reddish dust on the floor and on the bike itself is rust from the seat pan. The brown (torn) seat cover was made by mother on her industrial sewing machine, taking the original black cover as her example. But even that brown newly made cover didn't survive my travels. The replica seat that I ordered looks really nice, although it's not an exact copy. My restoration may take some time. My aim is to use it for Sunday trips around Amsterdam or take it to Spain for similar trips along the coast of the Costa Brava or through the mountains nearby.

Good day to all,
I just registered here and I'd like to present myself and my bike. On this forum I go by the name of 'kamacohete', but IRL my name is Hans. I am from Amsterdam, although I travel frequently to Spain where I feel at home just as well. I own a 1955 BSA A10 Road Rocket with matching frame and engine numbers and although it was registered in 1977, everything indicates that it was an original Dutch import. I've ridden the bike a lot during a few years, not only in The Netherlands, but also in the UK, Belgium, France and Germany and at that time it was my only means of transport. But after awhile I decided to buy me a new Moto Guzzi, so I put it away. Now after many years of standing motionless in a dry garage under a motorcycle cover I have decided to bring it back to life. This will take some effort as there is a lot of cleaning to be done. For starters I have to bring back some sparks from the ignition magneto. When I put it away many years ago, the engine was still running quite well. See two photos I took recently. I still have the original chrome front mudguard, but it needs some repairing too.
