Twins / Re: Push rod lengths for a10

Cheats Julian, by the way I have a lot more info on the bike. I got in touch with the mag classic motorcycle and they forwarded the article on to me and it was about my bike. Cheers Tom

I am at a stage where I am thinking of getting my a10 barrels relined. Has anyone had this done and know where best place to have it done. I live in central Scotland and am having trouble finding someone to tackle this job.

Twins / Push rod lengths for a10
20 December, 2023, 20:17:49
I have a query, on stripping my 1963 a10a alternator model I found that it had 4 alloy push rods of the same length. When looking to replace them with new rods I find that the sets that are for sale are 2    long and 2 short. Does that mean that my bike has had the wrong rods fitted. I have only recently acquired the bike.

Twins / Re: Year of registration query

Hi JulianS
Thanks for getting back to me. I have contacted the club and found out that the bike was shipped to
Wellington police in April 1963. When I read the page from the police brochure it said the bike used the dynamo to run the bike and the alternator to run the police equipment. It looks like someone through
time has done away with the dynamo and converted all running gear to 12volts via the alternator.
Can you advise me where you got the police equipment brochure as I am trying to restore the bike
back to original police spec.

Twins / Year of registration query
08 December, 2023, 01:38:12
Hi guys first timer on the forum so apologies if I'm doing it wrong. I have recently inherited my late cousins 1963 a10a gold flash. It was registered in April 1963 and has a suffix B on the number plate.
I may be wrong in thinking that B should 1964. There is another query that the frame number shown on the documents starts with GAY not GA7. It looks like somewhere along the line DVLA have botched things up as I have old mot's and service records with the correct frame number.
I am also struggling to find info on the 12volt alternator models as I believe this was an ex police bike.
Any info regarding these subjects would be grateful and would allow me to restore the bike to original
condition.
