If you have use of a rolling road use it you can at least open the throttle and get passed the idle jet and maybe get it to run. If you do whilst it is running put your hand over the carb intake and see if you can suck out whatever is in the jets.

Well done, it's good when a plan comes together.

Singles / Re: 1946 B31 - question on front hub
« on: 19 January, 2022, 09:16:07 »
The 7 inch hub normally has a left hand threaded spindle that pulls out much like the 8 inch. The spindle is thinner on the nearside with a sleeve in the fork leg. The offside leg has a lug welded to it for the cable adjuster. Both legs can be used fo fit an 8 inch brake. Remove the sleeve to fit the 8 inch spindle.

Isn't there a problem with using a later gearbox on the early B31s. I think the later ones have a wider mounting lug which needs to be cut down.

If you put sprocket onto Google, there are a number of companies who do sprockets. Perhaps one of them might be suitable.

As has been said, the handlebars have the bend to far away from the mounting. Otherwise if the tank is not the original the brackets have been welded on to low so lifting the front of the tank slightly.

That is one of two places to fit a rev counter on an A10/Rocket. The other place is off the oil pump at front of cover. The rev counters are different according where they are fitted. My Super Rocket of years ago had the rev counter driven off the oil pump. Some of the members in my branch have them driven as in your photo.

When I changed the 4 lobe arrangement for the 2 lobe on my 1949 M33 I found no problems with the chain alignment. I must say I have never seen a nut like the one on the right.

If you have a flasher unit designed for filament bulbs it most likely won't work on LEDs as the resistance is to low. I think you would need to fit some resistors in the circuit.

Oh well! I suppose by the time we get to have one sometime in the future, it might be a case of out of sight out of mind. I like a lot of members try to work our lives around dates. I must say I have enjoyed those that I have done in the past and do appreciate all the hard work that goes into organizing it.
