Is a 6v dynamo the ideal charging setup for electronic ignition? A magneto overhaul will last 25 years +. I would suggest just biting the bullet and getting the mag fixed.

Tell us more about the fuselages in the background.

Busy once again. There were some exotic BSAs to be seen as well as the odd everyday workhorse. Spot the oil drips - this one was ridden to and from the show

I still get my exhausts from Armours. They're fine.

Singles / Re: Tyre levers: how big ? How many ?
« on: 07 March, 2018, 06:44:08 »
You really should not have to use long levers. If you do, you are getting it wrong. My bike toolkits hold 2 6" levers which are perfectly adequate using the right technique. I do possess longer levers, but they are only used for changing tractor tyres.

When I took the sidecar off the Gold Flash, the front tyre in particular had plenty of tread left on it. The handling for the next few hundred miles was interesting, to say the least.

Twins / Re: What spark plug caps? (And plugs)

I use NGK non-resistor plug caps and NGK B7ES plugs. THe Green Spark Plug co is an excellent source of all things ignition. Beware cheap NGK plugs - there are counterfeits out there.

It has certainly been the case for many years - 50 that I know of and probably many more.

Carole Nash will do it. They need 6 photos.

A half decent grease gun won't break the bank. Halfords or anywhere really.

A single is a joy to ride. After a long riding career on twins, it's the singles that get all the use now. Well, almost all. http://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/bsaoc_forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif

Of course a hot engine will bake it on for you - keeps the kitchen fume free.

Hammerite smooth seems pretty resilient. I find other high temperature aerosols don't last the first rain shower. Brushing gives a decent coat though a few coats of the spray can is pretty good.

Is your dynamo polarity correct? Try flashing it.

Having a featherbed framed Norton and swinging arm BSAs I am in a position to give my thoughts. The Featherbed frame is good, no doubt about it. However, if it breaks away, it goes. Rarely do you get away with a slide. Having said that, when racing it I could get a 2 wheel drift going on bends but that's unusual. The BSA frame is more forgiving. Hit a spot of gravel on a bend and it will give a a shake and then sort itself out and on you go. The scrambles heritage perhaps? There is not much to choose between them really. An eye opener is the Enfield Bullet. My 1998 one really does corner as if on rails. Most unexpected!
