I live near one of the UK's best biking roads and also Scotland's most dangerous stretch of road (as was featured in a TV advert on hazards and safe driving). As you can imagine, both are favoured by bikers, not all of whom live to tell the tale. Blue flashing lights are all too common.
Despite being a lifelong all year round biker, the racket every decent evening from poorly silenced and unsilenced bikes howling over these roads really annoys me. It really does not do the whole movement any favours to add to noise pollution. It's just adding ammunition to the anti-bike lobby which is increasingly powerful. We can be our own worst enemies.
