Title: b33 oil pumps
Post by: luap on 27 August, 2017, 13:34:19
hi all new here just brought most of a 1954 b33 in bits
im wondering about oil pumps i have seen them s/h and know new gears are available and if there was  wear in the plate that screws on
it could be re faced but what about the other side opposite the plate does that ever wear or are they generally ok
(how safe would i be buying a s/h pump and fitting new gears )
any advice would be appreciated thanks paul

Hi
I have taken a look at a couple of oil pumps that my dad has got and they all seemed to have scoring to the plate this must be where the gears spin but even when you reface the outer cover I believe that the scoring would return in time as they bolt together unless anybody else has any better answer I would just rebuilt it and check the oil return to the tank when you start the bike
