Hi could someone with this fitted do me a diagram of the wiring from a simple two wire switch and the rest. I am sure I have it correct but every time I turn the key it blows the fuse. Have put on a new switch and coil.

Derek996

I've previously fitted one to a Panther 120 but can't remember the wiring off the top of my head. it's very simple. I'm about to do one to a Norton 99 but it will be later this week before I get a look at the wiring diagram. If I remember right the switch was in the feed to the coil which was also fed the thorspark unit. The other side of the coil also goes to the Thorspark and the remaining Thorspark wire went to ground - but I can't remember which colour was which  ::)
Not much help. I should have the info by the weekend but I'm sure someone else will help you out first

Thanks Derek996. Any idea where the second wire from the switch goes.

What size fuse are you using? I recently rewired the Thorspark on my B31 but can't remember how it's connected. I'll have a look later. I seem to recall that on mine the switch and fuse are in series. I'll have a look later and let you know.

Thanks every one
If I wire it the wrong way around to the instructions it will fire but not run for more than a few seconds. As soon as I wire it up as per instructions the fuse blows :-[

From Roy's link above. Assuming your bike is -ve earth it should be wired like this.

You need a switch with 2 wires. One wire goes to the battery -ve and the other goes to the green wire of the Thorspark. The battery +ve is connected to ground as is the red wire of the Thorspark. No other connections are required.

The green wire that goes to battery -ve from the thorspark also has one switch wire and fuse. So both switch wires go to -ve?

Nige63 , you have me confused  ;D

good answers Derek996   :D

Nige63 ; how many wires has your switch got ?

two wires
one to    battery -ve (negative terminal)
one to fuse and then to thorspark

as per the diagram shown by Derek996

this may help (but I doubt it  :D  Derek didn't put circles on his switch  ;D)

This is from thorspark. I have a two wire switch. I am so confused ( it doesn't take a lot )

Your switch only needs 2 wires, one from the battery and one to the fuse/Thorspark. This diagram is about as simple as I can make it.
