I am sure this has been well covered before and I did a search but couldnt find any info so can someone advise. Other than including a photo as an attachment is the only way to post one to first upload to a hosting site? IE it is not possible to insert photos directly. If so can anyone advise a good non-subscription site.
Many thanks

Bit big, but when you click on the message body at the bottom is an option to click or drag files from your computer. Admin delete if no good.
PS: it's not a new crankshaft as the info suggests but just a new sized image from my computer. LOL.

Thanks for the reply catz.
I had fathomed how to do it as an attachment, but was wondering how to place images in the body of the post.

If your photos are too big for here, until you get sorted you can send them to me & I'll resize and return to you. Best use <wetransfer.com> to avoid email size limits. It's free & easy to use.

Thanks Bill, I'll give wetransfer.com, although I will probably forgotten about it by the time I next want to post an image ::) /.
It wasn't an image size issue I was having. I just did not recall how to post images in the text of the post.

Modern forums do not have this boring resizing procedure.
You just click any size picture on your phone or computer...And it is automatically handled by the site/forum.
This is the reason why so few pictures are displayed here.
Really impossible to upgrade this ?

Steve.S

I'm with Dean on this. It seems to me that you need an advanced degree in computer engineering to post a picture, but then I know nothing about computers.
It is easy to add a picture on gmail, a couple of clicks and it's done. Why is it so difficult here?
I once managed to drag an image from my gallery, but it appeared in what seemed to be a separate reply, with a + and - symbol and some text.
None of the previously made suggestions or the help page work for me. I have managed to resize an image, but can't move it to the forum.
Surely there should just be a box 'Add Image' to click on?

Hi,

This is an image I have on my desktop but it could easily be in 'photos' or it could be a file on my computer.
I clicked on the photo and dragged it to the part of the reply box at the bottom that says 'click or drag files here to attach them'.

Dean Southall

Hi Dave
yes that is OK, and I've done that, but I was asking about including veiwable sized images within the text. If it can't be done, then OK, I was just checking I wasn't missing something

Hi,

I tried dragging a pdf document with text and image but only a link registered so it may not be possible.  Admin should confirm this.

Dave, Maybe we have different systems?
I am using Windows 11 on a Dell Laptop.
I can reduce the size of an image, but when I drag it to the Reply box, there is no text "Click or drag......".
When I release the button, the image appears full screen. So if I then remove the image by clicking the red X, the image disappears as does the Forum. All very frustrating.

DAVE BRADY

Hi,

Is this what you have on your screen?

Steve.S

Yes, I do now, but didn't before. Don't know why that is.
When I click on it now, it comes up with my pictures file folder, and I can click and drag pictures from there. However, in this folder, there is no option to reduce the file size, as there is with my other method (which won't drag the image to the reply box). Please bear in mind that I am a simpleton.

Hi,

When you click on an image and it opens in something like 'Preview' there should be a 'tools' option.  in the drop down there may be an 'adjust size' option or something similar.  Alter the size to be less than 1mb and it should upload but it can be smaller.

Dave.

Dave,
You ask if this is what is on my screen, but there is no image in your reply.
However, if this reply has an image on it, I've cracked it.
