hi all iv just bought a bsa33 but the family its off havent got any paperwork for it lost in clearing a house

the box of bit didnt have  a reg lpate in it is there a way to trace the frame number to get the reg number again  cheers carl

hi again now have engine number as b338602 frame as bb31-s-7791 any help would be good cheers carl

The problem you have is that you have not have paperwork linking the frame number to a registration number, such as old tax disks or an old style log book. So, even if you knew the registration number, DVLA would not be able to issue you with a V5 for it.

Unfortunately, if you want an old style registration number (rather than a modern one), your only route is to apply for an age related registration number. The process for doing this is explained on the web site but, essentially, you will need an MOT'd bike to start with and then you will need to apply to the Dating Officer for a Dating Certificate. With this, an age related registration number and V5 can then be applied for from DVLA.

Even with the necessary paperwork linking the frame number and registration number, it can still be a bit of a pain getting a V5, although not quite as bad as the age related number route.

hi thanks for the reply , think iv found a way to do it . hpi it on the vin number wich will throw up its reg , ill let you no how i get on cheers carl

hi iv still not found a way to get the reg plate of the bsa does anyone no we i can look cheers carl

Without any clues/documents etc Arthurs sound advice is the only way forward.

If DVLA recognise the frame number then no doubt they will tell you.
