Sorry about that guys, I meant Tappet guides, how do i get the tappet guides out of the timing side crankcase, I see they have a square on them, and the drwing in the spares book seems to show a thread?, any help would be most appreciated.  :'(

If it is a B or M series put a spanner on the square and unscrew them

Hi Andy

The engine is XB 350, I had a go at them and gave the spanner a quick tap, but didn't budge, so are they a normal r/h thread with nothing else holding them ?

Andy

Thanks, today I warmed the surrounding case, and with a bit of a wrestle they both came out, I removed the cam spindles by making an extractor tool, but i am still struggling to remove the 1/2 time crank shaft pinion gear, I don't have a set of 2 leg pullers small enough to fit, I tried all sorts, any idea if you can get hold of one of those BSA tools ??? doubt that anyone makes them.
