Bsa magneto repair

JulianS:
If the Sloper mag with a ring cam takes the easycap as photo below.

Photo from A10 mag but same principal.

I have had excellent and quick magneto service from Andrew Guttmann at Priory Magnetos and also from Armoto in Chesterfield.

I'd second that, provided it fits, they are excellent.

On my Panther magneto it fits inside the points housing, meaning that if it fails, you don't have to take the magneto apart, or even off to replace it.  I can't see how one would fit inside my BSA Sloper magneto points, there is scarcely enough room for the points mechanism.

Fitted in my mag no problem.

BEVANC:
Good to know an Easycap will fit; I'll take closer look at mine.

Out of curiosity, what do you use to tighten the nuts on the points ?  I had no spanner anywhere near slim enough (not even a set of points spanners I use on my Enfield) and ended up using fine nose pliers, which isn't ideal.  Was there originally some special tool ?

Bevan

JulianS:
Yes it is a tight fit.

Presuming it is a ring cam magneto you need 2 slim well fitting 4 BA spanners such as "Terry" spanners or a set of magneto spanners (search E bay lots to be found there). Even then you might have to file off an edge of spanner to get best access.

BEVANC:
Thanks for that - I will definitely have to find/make up something suitable.  I've attached a photo of the points on my 1929 Sloper - no idea if they as per original design.
Cheers,
Bevan
