A65 OIF Wheel rebuilding 1972 Conical Hubs.
« on: 13 August, 2017, 15:46:11 »
I stripped my standard rims off the hubs without measuring the offset distance between the brake plate and the rim. To the best of my knowledge I should have put a straight edge across the brake plate and measured between the straight edge and the rim. I need the measurements of both wheels I think ? Can anyone help please. Last time this happened I made an expensive mistake because the wheel builder did not ask for this measurement. Thanks.

I had my front wheel done and measured 17mm brake drum rim to outer edge of rim. Dont worry if the rim doesnt sit dead central when done, mine didnt and my mates Triumph TR6 didnt either. (about 4mm offset from memory). It hasnt affected the handling on either bike.

I have ordered the rims and spokes from Hagons, they will supply the off-set distance for any bike. not a bad price as well. Regards.

The 1971 workshop manual helpfully gives the offsets.

Thanks Julian, just got a copy of that Manual, much better than the Haynes version I have.
