As some of you know I have been having some real magneto dilemma's. There is an intermittent fault with my K2F which may be a quick fix but the waiting list for the specialists to do the job is up to 6 months and by that time summer is over.
Breaking down when you were 25 was fun but now it's a pain, so my way of thinking is chuck money at it until it stops becoming a pain and spend the time enjoying riding it, knowing there is a pretty good chance you will get home.
In this modern world, we want everything yesterday and waiting is becoming a rude word.
I contacted the guys at BTH magnetos in Milton Keynes, they make a new mag from scratch with a modern electronic ignition inside, they are a bit....well al lot pricey for the unit and coils, but they were on the shelf. So I drove up to them and collected it, and it was fitted the same day.
Fitting was a doddle, I had to buy a new non advance retard timing gear from Draganfly (£45), I made a small coil bracket and fitted the coils under the battery box, timing was so easy using the timing pin supplied.
Another good idea is the new mag has elongated mounting holes so you can slightly adjust the timing when running, by rotating the mag.
All I can say is they are an awesome piece of kit if you have the budget- All my A10 can say is thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, it has never ticked over so smoothly.
