Singles / B31 Rear Wheel Spindle
« Last post by Mark B on 18 January, 2018, 16:44:05 »
I'm having problems finding one for a rigid B31; I've tried Draganfly, Burton Bike Bits and C&D with no luck.  Can anyone recommend any other sources? (The B31/33 is my first BSA since my Bantam in the early 80s, so I'm still finding my way around these things!)

Thanks, Mark.

Twins / Re: A65 OIF remote oil filter.
« Last post by Servodyne on 18 January, 2018, 16:07:43 »
Hello
He's my take on the remote oil filter for the OIF A65. The filter block is a piece of aluminium I picked up from ebay hand crafted into the shape shown with a steel threaded union from a Pan European to take the HiFlo HF303 filter.
It's simply attached to the rear mudguard frame bracket bolt with an additional 1/4UNF threaded hole in the rear engine plate. The existing return line hose is cut and two banjo fittings used to connect to the filter block. The hardest part was finding a M20 x1.5 tap to tap the hole for the threaded union.

The Star and Garter / New ebay scam.
« Last post by A10 JWO on 18 January, 2018, 15:58:31 »
This guy is now stealing genuine ID's. These have a postal address down the page. It appears to be a normal auction with a few bids. There is no email address in description this time so it all looks good so far. Then he will get a message asking for a Buy it Now price, then the scam begins. The greedy buyer accepts the price and sends the demanded deposit to hold it, good bye money !! The Scammer nearly always has campers, caravans and cars in his other adverts. He also leaves a trade mark that I always spot ( most days of the week ). I will not reveal his trade mark on here. Be careful, no money till you have laid hands on goods.

Thanks Editor. When I picked up the bike in bits I wondered why that engine mounting plate was still in place. Could barely wriggle the engine bolts out. I read up on that as I have a decent manual. I have all new engine mounting bolts exactly the right length.
The metal plate is painted ready to go back on and I have new screws-bolts for that part. The engine came back from the Vapour Blasters yesterday, stunning. The rebuild begins.

Again thanks for your good solid advice. Colin

I've just bought a grease gun from Ebay: item number 222220112488. 15 including 5 grease cartridges and it's also got a flexible nozzle which is great to reach the rear hub grease nipple for example.

I'm with RH Insurance & have 2 bikes on the same policy - a '75 Triumph Trident & a '67 BSA Victor Special. Both have decent agreed values. Its really simple. Do some research & try to find decent replacement bikes similar to yours to give you an idea of what they're going for.
Then following the insurers instructions, take photos & email them off. There has never been any disagreement with the values I have suggested, & goodness forbid if the worse happened, you'd get paid out the agreed value of your bike(s).

I have 2 bikes insured with Peter James an A7 and A65 fully comp with breakdown cover for 89.39 if you want agreed valuation they will send out a form for you to fill in and providing the valuation is under 5000 they will do it with 2 photographs one either side of the bike.
