The Amal settings list show screw in pilot jet 1967/68 and bush for 1969.

Those screw in pilot jets used on 2 stroke carbs and the very early Concentrics, before the pilot bush was introduced.

Common problem if silicone sealant has been used.

My method if engine still in frame - head still on, plugs in, push rods out, barrel nuts on but undone a few threads, turn engine over and the compression should move the barrel up to the nuts. Desperate situaton you may need to kick it over.

Those fins can be delicate and can and do break off.

Araldite? Happens, many years a friend araldited his A65 rocker cover in place to stop the oil leak.

Claiming back an original number is quite a rigorous process.

You need a document which connects the registration number to the frame number stamped on the bike.

That means an old log book or a certified copy of an entry from the old motor tax records which also links the frame number and registration number - most of the surviving old records dont show the frame number or possibly some pre 1983 document which links the frame and registration.

DVLA only consider applications which come via the V765 scheme.

The reverse MY series of numbers is a Middlesex series used between February 1961 and July 1962.

It is worth researching with the Kithead Trust whether they hold any of these reversed Middlesex records.

The 1963 UK catalogue gives the C15SS colours as either flamboyant blue or black.

The USA model colour given as metallic red.

I think the 3003/1 tacho is 4:1 drive for a unit single.

The A65 is 3:1 drive.

Are all the fixing bolts the correct size? Any undersize will reduce clamping force.

US1966 (125 mph) and 1967 (150 mph) speedos need the matching drive for them to work correctly, the USA bulletin below may shed some light.

According to my Smiths catalogue the SSM 5001/6 is a Triumph fitment for 1967.

Singles / Re: Speedo cable route / advice

It takes a lot of force to forge the cable ends square so they will not unravel, a big hammer and a suitable die help.

The special tool is shown below, the threaded bit is hollow, having selected the correct die, put the cable end in it, the threaded bit is screwed down to hold it then the plunger is smartly struck with a lump hammer and in theory you get a squared cable. Grind the end with a radius to go into the drive or instrument.

Never got to use it, now has a new owner.

The later models had the 2 rear head bolts, orignally 5/16 inch diameter, increased to 3/8 inch to improve sealing.

BSA issued a service bulletin detailing converting earlier models.

Worth considering if you still have 5/16 rear bolts.

I think to use those rods is  risk. With what has been seen and no known history I would not let them near my A10 engine.

It also looks like they are both drilled with oil holes, only the drive side rod was so drilled.

Glovers rods are certainly large journal. Small journal rods have forging number 67 270 on them.

Best way to compare the 2 rods is to insert a gudgeon pin through the small ends then the split in the rods should line up.

The distance between rod bearing centres is given as 6.467 - 6.467 inches. Not the 6.5 inch dimension some of the new billet rods have been made to.

If the dimensions vary by 4 mm then at least one of the rods is scrap.

The rod end caps were changed when the castelated nuts were replaced with self locking.

I think the rod on the right of the photo is the earlier type.

The service sheet shows the change but not the full detail.

The photo shows rods taken from a 1961 engine.

Needs to go via the BSAOC. Dont send direct to DVLA.

Any V765 authorised signatory from any club can copy and authenticate the old log book.  See the note on reverse of the form V765.
