Singles / Re: C15 petrol tank tap
« on: 21 December, 2017, 04:43:10 »
I had lots of problems with leaking original type cork taps.
In the end following advice from the forum I fitted a " BAP TAP "
Can't remember what it stands for but has been fine for 6 months
Supplied by FEXED.COM they have a complete range of taps and fittings
I think I bought tap,reducer and elbow
Main thing is the taps are ethanol proof
Hope this helps
PS the web site shows thread sizes

Clockwise is normal ignition.
Anticlock is emergency start with a flat battery.

Condenser is on the LT circuit.
Never touches the HT.

Then how does the HT spark get earthed ?

Try some easystart through the carburettor.

The ignition coil body needs to be earthed (connected to frame) to complete the HT circuit.

       I just rebuilt a c15
       Had a similar problem
You could check that the insulating washer is fitted on the points "peg"
If this is no help I would be willing to have a look
       Are you anywhere near Staffordshire?

I think you are correct about my carb. Problem
You remember all the trouble I had originally
Bike runs perfectly apart from Tickover
I might treat her to a new carb. next spring

Many thanks for the reply.
Julian what thickness of insulating washer do you recommend?
Space is short between carb. air intake and metal air filter housing.

Some of you will remember all the "FUN" I had getting my bike roadworthy.
Looking again at the carburettor I have no insulating block fitted between carb. and head.
I suspect this results in carb. Overheating causing running problems.
However there is no space to fit any block.
I am wondering whether my carb. body is too long?
Anyone know what the dimension should be ?

Now engine has run a few hundred miles thinking about oil change.
So probably use 20/50 again ?
I think I read in Rupert Ratio gear box oil recommend 90s grade
Anyone used this.

Removed the carb. for inspection.
Flange checked out no distortion.
However found the needle jet blocked.
Cleaned all other parts and refitted.
Stretched the slide return spring slightly.
Only had time last night for short trial but initially seems much better.
Waiting for the rain to stop for proper test.
