Originally it would have been fitted with an Amal 6/014 carburettor with a 1" bore, 150 main jet, 6/4 slide and needle in position 3.

The numberplate is a London series issued June-September 1934.Given the size of the front brake relative to the front wheel I would say a 250.
Bike is a Blue Star. Cant say whether the 250, 350 or 500cc model.
