Bantam / Starts but issues.
« on: 17 December, 2019, 16:39:50 »
Rebuilt 150 Engine. Good spark and new correctly jetted carb. Starts fine and revs fine on the stand. Pulls away and then appears to run out of petrol then picks for a few seconds. This repeats itself again and again. The carb and primary galleries are clean and double checked. The fuel cap is not blocked, the fuel is new. Have I missed anything please.

For problems like these I always look on ebay and magnify the pictures, generally you will get a few the same if they have the same handlebars. Hope this helps.

Problem solved, I turned down the rear sprocket to accept the 1/4" chain.

The Star and Garter / Sprocket conundrum
« on: 22 November, 2019, 17:50:14 »
I am working on an old 1963 trials bike that has a custom large rear sprocket that is fitted with Renolds 5/8" by 1/4" chain which fits nicely. I am going to change the worn out back sprocket for one that takes a standard width sprocket  but I am wondering, when I fit a new 530 ( 5/8" by 3/8" chain ) would the front sprocket be a standard width or did BSA and Triumph make front sprockets to accept the slimmer chain. ? Thank you.

I don't  think I have ever had a clutch that don't float about on a British bike.

Try Kidderminster M/C's . I have a pair in the cave for an A65 that could be cut down if the shoes are similar.

Go into Ebay BSA C15 Cylinder Head, loads of pictures that you can enlarge.

Sounds like the slide is sticking, but it also reminds me of the symptoms of an air leak on the carb or manifold. I would get the carb on the workbench and have a close look at it. If you need any spares call Hitchcocks, overnight delivery. Not too much wrong there my friend.

Ebay has become a joke, I have been reporting the same team for over 3 years. It's about time the media got involved or a government if you can find one. There are some new teams that are hi-jacking private accounts with addresses that seem credible. Normally they let themselves down by listing shed loads of other vehicles all with different backgrounds. I have no sympathy for people who send deposits for vehicles they have not viewed, this is normally fuelled by greed. These scammers use laptops with dongles so they cannot trace them. Which Police Force would even consider taking this on as it probably has overseas accounts or Banking on line. I think we are stuck with these low lifes. Please keep reporting them in any case.

Test the battery and voltage whilst running, Boyer like plenty of volts.

Hi Chris and thanks. All bog standard, the bike had such low mileage I just rebuilt it with a new sludge trap, ends, mains and rings. Lovely return to the oil tank.
