I would suggest that you get it out regardless of it eventual condition. A new trap is relatively inexpensive but not cleaning properly could end up with some real expensive and time consuming results. And it COULD upset the balance of the crank if you dont get it all out.
Thank you very much. Now I'm fully upsides with it. I've done it oten enough, but for some obscure reason it wasn't making sense. Might be an age thing.
the comment that the oil has changed over the 70 or so Bantam years is of course fact. Some of the newer oils you can use at 40:1. However something to consider is that the qty of oill affects the fuel air mixture cos the oil doesnt burn in the same way or at the same rate as the petrol. Therefore the lower the qty of oil the richer the mixture. In truth I have no idea what the differences might be.
I had the same problem. With use of a torch and mirror I established that the oil was not coming from there and I still cant find it. The only place left to examine is the primary chain breather/chain oiler. I'm not of a mind to strip primary side at the mo.But I suspect that the chain case my be pressurised to a small degree as a result of the crank shaft oil seal "blowing" slightly.
Thanks again. I know I have the wrong Swining arm so whilst it ll fits together and the chain runs clean etc. I have a bit of modifying to do. Getting that particular part correctly positioned sets the positioning for the whole brake assembly, so thats now OK
