I put a Commando front end on a 1967 A65. It was only a case of having a couple bearing collars made. Its a long time ago but I THINK the commando head bearing OD was marginally less than the BSA. Cant remember about the steering stops.

Good luck.

Hi Whist I would stop the dealing on this issue. I fully understand the stance that you have taken and applaud it. I wish you the very best of luck.

Suggest you write to the
CEO DVLA
Swansea
SA99 1BA.

You can get his name from the DVLA website. I cant remember it offhand. Probably wont make any difference but it will shove a bit of hassle back at them.

Hi. :) :)

I have had a chat with "someone I know". because I am going to be in the same position some time later next year.

No idea what the situation is regarding the form they require. As you say getting a valuation from a garage should not be too difficult and as you cant provide any evidence of VAT you will probably(possibly) have to pay it on the valuation.

We reckon that the worst thing is you may need to go down the SVA route. That is actually not as difficult as people make it out to be.(Done it a couple of times) The actual testing is no worse than an MOT. I must confess to not having a clue what that may require in paper terms.

Would seriously appreciate that you keep us in the loop on this one.

Providing that you haven't been too specific about any details at this stage you MAY get away with telling them that its a barn find and that any such detail is long gone. You may also have to make some sort of legal declaration. About the vat I have no idea.

Hi What symptom did you have to suggest that your rings weren't bedded in. Loss of compression--smokey exhaust==fuel/oil droplets in exhaust.

Would be nice to hear if anyone else has had the same problem.

Hi. My son bought a pair of "Hepolite" pistons for an A65 project. The engineer doing the rebore said that they are not genuine Hepolite.

He contacted the seller and was told that Hepolite was bought out by another company but that his new ones were indeed genuine.

So any ideas on this?????????

Advice or comments much appreciated.

Hi.  :)

Purchased from ebay. Fitted in the pipe line going from the oil tank to the engine. Mine is on my current A50 but I assume they are reasonably the same. I haven't had an A10/A7 for a long time.

So my memory may be in need of slight adjustment.

Having had the same problem I put an anti wet sumping valve in the inlet pipe to the engine. Does the trick. cost about 35. Lots of people use this system.

Hi

Thanks for all your replies.

As some of you may recall I 'accidently' converted mine about 12 months ago so I'm scratching around a bit.

My inlet port is 1 1/8th which is larger than either so no problem.

We'll see what happens some when down the line "if and when"

Hi. What would be the normal(expected) threads on a 1931 550 sloper. BSF, BSW, CEI ??????????????

Advice appreciated.
