Singles / Re: What do I have?
« on: 09 December, 2017, 18:30:37 »
Hello Folks,

I picked up a basket case BSA single.    New to all this.

Frame number is CB34-5XX   Engine number is BB-34-A-6XX HHC  (Dashes are really dots, but I don't know how to make a dot)

Looking at the serial number page, I think I have a 1956 Competition Alloy frame (350cc) and a 1957 Competition Alloy engine  (500cc).  The previous owner says it was a 1957 Competition Alloy motorcycle and not pieced together.

What is correct? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sounds good whatever it is! any pics?

oil is draining from the oil tank into the crankcases via the oil pump, common complaint on british bikes!

Looks good to me.

Is that an A65 tank?

Engine reinstalled, new fuel tank, Now not charging, no winkers at the rear.
Not back on the road, but the engine runs and is no better for vibration than before

oh dear that's not good, is the vibration just as bad then?

How do you calculate the size of bush reqd for crankshaft plain bush. I have measured the crank at 1.475" but confused as to what size of bush i will need, i know it has to be reamed to give a 0.015 clearance.

12.6 should be plenty, mine will run on less than that.

Are plugs wet? Mine needs plenty of fuel to start but is single carb.
